Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities in Wellingborough have a long history of working together.

From the early 1980s they would work together with the Wellingborough and District Racial Equality Council under the umbrella of Wellingborough Black Consortium.

In 2003, the organisation received funding and established as a infrastructure group supporting BME community groups based in Wellingborough.

Since 2014, BME community groups in Wellingborough have been working with Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council to re-establish the organisation.
